Fundación ”la Caixa” and the MACBA Foundation merge their respective contemporary art collections

The agreement provides for the joint management of the two bodies’ contemporary art collections by a single advisory committee and the establishment of a coordinated works acquisition policy.
Fundación ”la Caixa” and the MACBA Foundation will co-produce exhibitions featuring works from both collections, which together comprise some 2,400 works with an estimated current market value of around 160 million euros.
The agreement, which will run initially for four years, also states the two foundations’ aim of generating synergies with regard to research, dissemination, education and social impact programmes in the field of contemporary art.

The objective of the cooperation agreement signed today is for the two foundations to launch joint projects aimed at increasing their capacity to generate knowledge and understanding of the most contemporary art and to enhance the dissemination of both collections and activities relating to them on both the national and international contemporary art scenes
