Over the last ten years, ”la Caixa” Banking Foundation’s Alliance for Child Vaccination has vaccinated 4.5 million children in vulnerable situations
Madrid, 27 April 2018
”la Caixa” Banking Foundation celebrates a decade implementing a child immunisation programme in areas of Africa and Latin America where access to healthcare is difficult, teaming up in this initiative with Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, supported by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and in cooperation with ISGlobal.
Since ”la Caixa” Banking Foundation joined the programme in 2008, more than 4.5 million children have received pentavalent and pneumococcal vaccines thanks to investment of more than 25 million euros raised from donations made by Caixabank partner companies, customers and employees, and micro-donations by ordinary citizens.
The Vaccine Alliance implements a pioneering formula to promote corporate social responsibility in Spain: ”la Caixa” Banking Foundation and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation multiply the value of each donation received by four, thereby quadrupling efforts to combat child mortality.
